MERRY CHRISTMAS!

A throwback Thursday postfrom Christmas Eve 2014

The magic of Christmas Eve is upon us.  Even at this early hour.

Gone are the days where I longingly awaited Santa’s arrival.  Now I just sense my daughter’s anticipation.

She is nine and is in full Barbie mode.  Her life revolves around Barbie.  Last year’s big gift was the Dream House.  For any parent out there whose child happens to receive such a gift from Santa, beware!  The directions suck.  It took my poor husband four hours to put that fucker together and that was with the help of a  YouTube video.  Granny has blessed her granddaughter with Barbie’s Malibu Mall (which only took my husband two hours to put together.  Another set of shitty instructions and no YouTube video this time) and word has it that Santa is bringing Barbie a friggin’ camper, complete with a hot tub!  This plastic bimbo has everything!

What am I most looking forward to?  Other than watching my daughter tear through her gifts or enjoying the smile on my autistic sister’s face as she opens clock after clock after clock, I look forward to Christmas Eve the most.  Nothing beats the gathering of family over a dinner of pizza, various appetizers and snacks, a brief Yankee swap and then maybe a round or two of Apples To Apples.

I know that somewhere in this great wide world it is already Christmas.  So with that in mind, I wish all my readers, snoopers and fellow bloggers a very Merry Christmas!

I'm a writer. I'm also a wife and a parent who works too much and lives too little. In addition to writing I also love to read, listen to music, travel, cook, I enjoy looking for bargains at flea markets or thrift stores, Christmas, football and of course writing! How did I come up with the title of my blog? Two things: 1. I live in New England (duh) and 2. Canadian singer Alan Frew once arrogantly told me to "get a New England life"--again--DUH! I already HAVE one!

Tell me what you think!
