Back To The 80’s

An interesting question:

wp-1457629888114.jpeg

For me it would depend on what year. The very early 80’s are like a blur to me. Forget anything before 1983.

If it came down to music and movies, I’d say stick me anywhere between 1984 and 1986 and leave me there. Between Duran Duran and John Hughes flicks, I would be in Heaven!

If it came down to growing up and moving on with my life, I’d say between 1988 and 1989. By then I was driving, working and graduating. We finally had cable. I was living large!

As enjoyable as those years may have been, unfortunately they weren’t without pain. I lost my grandparents in the 80’s, money was extremely tight with two parents on unemployment and school sucked.  My younger sisters were born in the 80’s (not that it’s a bad thing).

So if I went back, would I stay? No, only because life moves on. But I’d make sure all those great tunes and films were packed in my Gucci bag to take back to the future.

I'm a writer. I'm also a wife and a parent who works too much and lives too little. In addition to writing I also love to read, listen to music, travel, cook, I enjoy looking for bargains at flea markets or thrift stores, Christmas, football and of course writing! How did I come up with the title of my blog? Two things: 1. I live in New England (duh) and 2. Canadian singer Alan Frew once arrogantly told me to "get a New England life"--again--DUH! I already HAVE one!

  1. I love this concept and your blog. I really loved the 80s and don’t think I can ever really tell other people that weren’t there what it was like. Everything was so exciting and everything seemed possible. The films of that time made you feel good and made me feel like I could achieve anything I wanted. Music was plentiful, life was good and cars were cool. I would love to go back but I would miss my cell (mobile phone). I love the 1980s so much I made my band into a 1980s tribute Jamie and the first class 80s show

Tell me what you think!
