Adios, 2016!

Since we’re about to close the door on another year, it’s time to reflect.

So many people have complained about how shitty 2016 was.  Aside from the fact that the United States now has an ASSHOLE for “president”, I don’t feel 2016 was any worse than previous years.

Yeah, some famous people died.  But in what year did famous people NOT die?  If they weren’t famous we wouldn’t know they died, now would we?

A few days ago I got to read a post from someone on Facebook.  It said:  “Only 4 more days until 2017!  2016 is the worst because people keep dying”.  As if people never died in previous years and as if they aren’t going to die in 2017.  Right.  If it weren’t for all the stupid ass shit I’ve read on Facebook relating to ASSHOLE, this post would be marked as the dumbest thing I’ve read all year!

On a personal note, 2016 had its ups and downs for me.  But that’s fairly typical.  The good outweighs the bad and that’s what really matters.

In a world full of lies the Oxford Dictionary has chosen “post-truth” as the “word of the year”.  My favorite word this year?  “Deplorable”.  To me that word pretty much sums up the entire year.

I try to look at each new year as a clean slate, not just for myself but potentially for everyone.  Although I know it’s not going to happen, here is my wish list of things I’d love to not hear about in 2017:

  1. Anything alt-right related
  1. clowns

  1. the denying of climate change
  1. any mention of nuclear weapons
  1. beloved celebrities dying

betty              keith  ozzy

  1. the legalization of pot and pot in general

  1. animals being abused and/or killed
  1. children being abused and/or killed
  1. Russia
  1. email hacking
  1. Pokemon Go

  1. deporting Muslims
  1. Syria
  1. Israel
  1. hurricanes
  1. fires
  1. earthquakes
  1. any kind of shooting, individually or mass, or even the mention of guns in general
  1. bombings
  1. anything that comes out of ASSHOLE’S pie hole.

Nobody knows what 2017 will bring.  We can only hope it brings peace and love, even if only for ourselves.

With that, my fellow bloggers, readers, snoopers, stalkers, watchers—whatever—I wish you a safe and happy New Year.  May 2017 bring you good health, success and happiness!

I'm a writer. I'm also a wife and a parent who works too much and lives too little. In addition to writing I also love to read, listen to music, travel, cook, I enjoy looking for bargains at flea markets or thrift stores, Christmas, football and of course writing! How did I come up with the title of my blog? Two things: 1. I live in New England (duh) and 2. Canadian singer Alan Frew once arrogantly told me to "get a New England life"--again--DUH! I already HAVE one!

Tell me what you think!
