Many Musical Memories Left Behind

Many Musical Memories Left Behind

Yesterday we learned of the passing of Richard M. Sherman, the other half of the Sherman Brothers. Robert passed away in 2012.

Who are the Sherman Brothers, you may ask? Believe it or not, until I saw the movie “Saving Mr. Banks”, I had no idea who they were either. Richard is portrayed by Jason Schwartzman and Robert is portrayed by B.J. Novak in the movie.

The Sherman Brothers were brothers who were a songwriting team that worked for Disney. If you have ever seen the movie “Mary Poppins”, among many other Disney classics, or have visited Disney World or Disneyland, I can guarantee you have heard their songs. They are Academy Award winners. And if you have ever had the song “It’s A Small World (After All)” running through your head, you can thank the Sherman Brothers.

They may be gone but they have left behind many wonderful songs for future generations to enjoy.

The Eclipse Is Coming! The Eclipse Is Coming!

The Eclipse Is Coming! The Eclipse Is Coming!

Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock, tomorrow, April 8, there’s going to be a total eclipse of the sun. Maybe someday there really will be a total eclipse of the heart. But I digress…

Considering we’ve been hearing about this for, what, months? Why is it that suddenly people are running around looking for the special sunglasses they need to safely watch it? Today I was in a store and at least three customers asked about the glasses and were told to try “Cumberland’s or Big Lots”. And I doubt either of those places have them either.

These must be the same people who wait to the 11th hour to buy their Christmas gifts.

Oh well, you snooze, you lose (your sight, that is). Just don’t look at the sun. Better yet, don’t even look out the window. Chances are with the many places due to have some kind of cloud cover, the grand event isn’t going to be so grand for many.

The Choice You Make

The Choice You Make

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know by now that over a thousand people have been charged with federal crimes stemming from the January 6, 2021 insurrection on the Capitol. The other day I briefly watched a video of some crying twit bitching about her upcoming trial due to her insurrection participation. I didn’t really pay much attention to what she was crying about. What I did think was how it was her choice to be a part of the insurrection whereas she could have made the choice to stay home that day. Maybe if she had made that choice, she wouldn’t be crying about going to trial.

It’s the same thing with SHITHOLE. If he hadn’t committed so many crimes, he wouldn’t have so many indictments against him. If he hadn’t committed fraud, he wouldn’t have to worry about coming up with half a billion dollars to pay his new owners–the state of New York. He wouldn’t have had to get a financier to cover his bond for appeal in his rape and defamation trial. He wouldn’t have had to store boxes upon boxes of documents he had no business having in his possession in his bathroom, ballroom or anywhere else in his flea-infested golf resort. If he hadn’t screwed around on his wife with a porn star and then decide to run for “president”, he wouldn’t have had to pay her off. I could go on and on.

The point is, in life everyone has a choice. You can choose right or you can choose wrong. But whatever you may choose, prepare to deal with the consequences.

Be Your Own Influence

Be Your Own Influence

In today’s world we are faced daily with various celebrities flinging their influence in our faces.

Everywhere you turn, from TV to social media, some VIP is telling us what to buy, what to eat, what kind of medicine to take, what kind of insurance to buy, what to wear, and even telling us to vote, sometimes even who to vote for. Have we stopped thinking for ourselves?

I’m not going to mention any names, but if we want a reverse mortgage, we’ll get one. If we want to try a certain diet and the foods included with it, we’ll try it. If we want or need insurance for a car or home, we’ll get it, but only if that particular insurance is available in our area. If we want to get vaccinated, we will. If we want to register to vote or vote in general, we’ll do it. Same goes for if we don’t want any of the above. We don’t need someone to tell us what or what not to do.

And why should anyone care if said celebrities want to or not want to do any of those things themselves? Simply because you do or don’t? That’s their business, just as it is yours.

Social Media

Social Media

I always thought the point of social media sites was for people to randomly post about different topics, maybe carry on a conversation, maybe have a debate or outright argument with someone, maybe just post some stupid thought and not want any response at all. So, I roll my eyes whenever I see posts from people commenting on how many followers they have or from people on another’s behalf encouraging people to follow them. Because I didn’t realize social media was a popularity contest.

I also don’t understand why (or like) how people comment on the relationships of strangers, whether the strangers be regular joes or celebrities. Most of us realize relationships are two-way streets. Nobody on any platform has an inkling what anyone else’s relationship is like, even if you personally know the people involved.

It is wrong to surmise you know so-and-so created such-and-such based on the fact that they refused to marry someone or that someone refused to marry them. Maybe they had good reasons to not marry or end the relationship. Because do we really know there was a proposal? How do we know the breakup wasn’t amicable? How do we know it wasn’t the other side who ended it? We don’t know what level of bullshit was involved from either side. We don’t know what it’s like to live with either person. Nor should we give a fuck.
